The Muskoka Lakes Navigation Company, which under various names served the Muskoka District for 92 years (and continues to do so today), grew out of the enterprise of Mr. Alexander Peter Cockburn (1837-1905), a Victoria County merchant who later become Muskoka's first Member of the Ontario Legislature and a tireless champion of the Ontario's North.
